I've been held up at gun point in more occasions then I care to remember. But every time, I remember my adrenaline pumping, a heavy brick in the pit of my stomach, but my brain always evaluating the situation. I've shot my way out of many holdups, but have also lost my car, money and gun in many. Never once did my thoughts turn to God during those times. And after the holdups - depending on whether I got away or not - I was always either telling myself I handled it well, or cussed myself out for not having handled it better. There was no God in my thoughts either way. I know that could never be equated to soldiers in battle - my respect to each one of them who steps out to face the enemy.
